Like Taylor Swift has her 'Swifties', Beyoncé is Queen Bey, and her fans are the Beys here at Berwickshire Swap we have our

'Swappers'.

Our attendees, volunteers, staff, trustees and supporters who all believe in the ethos of saving our families money and creating a circular economy by swapping good quality children's items for new to them.

In our next few blogs we're going to hear first hand from some of our amazing Swappers about what they love about coming to our events.

Our first Swapper is the eco warrior money saving expert Chloe.

Chloe has two young daughters, aged 5 and 2. She first discovered Berwickshire Swap at our Langlee community centre swap almost two years ago. Since that swap Chloe has become a familiar face throughout The Scottish Borders. Seeing Chloe regularly has allowed us to learn what she likes. At our Big Duns swap '24, when a matching basket for the toy kitchen she got in Kelso arrived, I was able to promptly give it to her to complete the set! This is one reason we love to have a chat with you at our events. After chatting with Chloe we asked if she could share more with us about what keeps her coming back.

Chloe shared with us the fantastic "haul" she obtained from the Selkirk Swap.

“Its the wee ones birthday is next month and about 95% of it I’ve sourced from your swaps – absolutely love it , see you next time”

This is a massive financial saving and a huge amount of items saved from landfill. Chatting with Chloe she told us how life changing BS is for her and that her children would never have anywhere near the things they’ve been able to have because she has Berwickshire swap on her doorstep. Chloe messaged again to tell us how she has given some of the toys she found to family and friends to gift! Sustainability and money saving at its absolute best!

Chloe continues to talk about how she has saved money at our events

“The variety of quality goods that help ease the financial burden of raising two children, as well as preventing items going to landfill."

My children have been able to have access to more books than I'd ever consider being able to purchase myself which I feel has hugely helped their development. Everyone I've introduced to the swaps absolutely love them too and I can confidently say I no longer buy unnecessary items in a shop without waiting to look at a swap event first."

The next thing Chloe said is a real winner for us –

“its meant more money in the pocket to spend on experiences rather than material things”

Chloe's words are backed up by feedback from our 2024 swap survey.

We asked if your children would have less clothes and toys if it was not for Berwickshire Swap.

76% said that yes, their children would have less clothes and toys if it was not for Berwickshire Swap .
